"My first copy was a gift after my husband died. I found the book so helpful I wanted to share it with friends who were newly widowed. However, even after 2 years, and even 4 years, I was not ready to give it up. I still go back to it and the pages I have marked. I have bought 4 or 5 more copies to give instead. I found Fumoia's organizational approach very helpful. She begins with the feelings and issues or the first days and weeks following the death of a loved one. She then progresses through stages of grief, ending with hope and help as a grieving person reaches a time with he or she is ready to turn their face to a future without that loved one. Readings are short. I took my time and went back several times as I bounced around in the grief cycle which seldom progresses in a straight line. I was reassured over and over that what I was experiencing was normal for me and I was not crazy. Another thing I appreciated is that, while Fumia endorses spirituality, she does not reference one specific path nor belief system. I hope it is as helpful for anyone else who purchases it.."

- Upon my loss of my husband I was given a copy of this in 2005. Every day, after his passing, I wrote a little memo to myself on the blank spaces on the pages of these passages. Each passage and one word or phrase or sentence i worte helped me to get through the loss and come to grips of what had happened to me. I was no longer alone. This book became my dear and closeest friend of comfort, guideance and understanding. I have since given this to others who have had a loss hopefully they will find comfort in a passage on the pages of this book. the passages are like a true friend saying everything will be ok, and you will get through this. Hence the name of the book " safe passage"
- I can't count the number of times I've turned to the passages in this book. A friend gave me my copy when I was grieving an unthinkable loss many years ago. Through the years of healing I have found comfort and strength in the words I read, the passages being just the perfect length for me. Loss and grief are inevitable, help through the process in this unobtrusive manner is a gift. As now having gone through the grieving process one, two, three...too many times, I love to gift this book to others when they find themselves stricken with bitter loss.

- This the best book I have ever found on the subject of grieving - which we will all do at some point in our lives - most likely more than once. I have given this to people who have lost a loved one, endured the pain of saying good-bye to a beloved pet, waded thru the bewilderment of a broken relationship, etc. Molly has separated the book into 6 sections Beginnings, Navigation, Surrender, Transformation, Continuance and Connection. Every page will have you saying "That's how I feel" From page 95 " Our inclination to subject tragedy to comparison threatens recognition of the universal experience, and more importantly, our freedom to feel. The magnitude of our loss is irrelevant and ultimately incalculable" When you feel you can't find the "right" words to comfort a friend, or distance separates you, send this book.
- I brought this book for a young relative, following the sudden, tragic death of her husband. I first discovered what a wonderful healing tool it was for me, when I brought a copy following the unexpected death of my 23 year old son back in 1996. Each day I read two pages from this book to aid me on my journey of grief. Then Three years ago, my beloved daughter died of cancer. This book has been a part of my daily life, all these years and has been my companion through all the stages of grief.
- I was given this book by a friend shortly after my husband died. I received great comfort from the passages and therefore purchased a copy for a friend after she list her husband.
- if you are looking for a book to help heal you after losing someone you love then this is the book for you. I was given this book 10 years ago after I lost my mom and I still read it often. Opening it to a random page. A friend of mine just lost her father so I ordered it for her. Hope it helps her as much as it has helped me.
- I can't say "I enjoyed this book" because I bought it for a purpose. It is well written, I was just a little put out by the paragraph format (Ther is a large capital letter in the margin, and the word to which it belongs is often much higher on the page. Once I got used to that, there was no problem.
